Please be advised that this coming week of October 26th, we will be entering the beginning phases of the River Avenue Road Bridge Replacement Project in Eastport. Originally built in 1907, the existing bridge has a 3-ton weight limit and is currently closed to traffic. The project will replace the aging structure with a new bridge designed to meet current New York State Department of Transportation standards and includes retaining wall construction, roadway restoration, and drainage improvements.
Please see the below for our anticipated project schedule (please note that this schedule is subject to change, we will continue to share updates as the work schedule is confirmed and the project progresses):
Regular construction hours will be Monday through Friday, 7AM to 3:30PM. Overnight and/or weekend work may be scheduled if needed and we will be sure to notify you all if that is the case! We will also be sending out a notification letter to property owners in the immediate vicinity to alert them to the beginning of our work. Motorists should continue to use S Bay Avenue as the designated detour.
We appreciate the community’s patience and support as this important infrastructure improvement moves forward. If you have any follow up questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for your understanding as we work to provide a safer, improved bridge for the entire Eastport community!
Thank you in advance,
Ana Luisa Garcia
