Dramatic video shows moment Alec Baldwin rams head-on into tree in Hamptons car crash

Crashes are for closers.

Dramatic dashcam video shows the moment Alec Baldwin rammed head-on into a tree in the Hamptons – as cops corroborated the hothead actor’s sob story that he was forced to swerve by an incoming garbage truck.

The accident-prone Baldwin, 67, was cruising with his brother Stephen Baldwin, 57, along Montauk Highway behind a National Waste Services garbage truck at around noon on Monday when the hauler veered to the left, according to a crash report obtained by The Post.

Believing the truck to be turning left, the “Glengarry Glen Ross” star weaved to the right – only to discover the rig was actually turning the same direction, the report from the East Hampton Police Department states.

The report broadly dovetails with Baldwin’s claim in an Instagram video that a garbage truck the “size of a whale” cut him off as he drove his wife Hilaria Baldwin’s 2023 Range Rover.

“A guy cut me off, a big garbage truck, a garbage truck the size of a whale. I’ve never seen a garbage truck that big. It must have been for something commercial, like taking away material from construction or something,” he said.

“To avoid hitting him, I hit a tree, I hit a big, fat tree and crushed my car – my wife’s car. I crushed my wife’s car. I feel bad about that. But it’s all fine, I’m fine, and my brother’s fine.”

The dashcam video obtained by Newsmax gives the National Waste Services garbage truck’s driver’s-side POV as the massive vehicle seemingly rolls through a right turn onto Montauk Highway.

Shortly after the turn, the truck slows onto the road’s shoulder and the white Range Rover can be seen plowing into a tree.

NewsMax contended the video “contradicts” Baldwin’s story that the truck cut him off, causing the crash.

But the video does show the truck slightly veer left before starting a wide right turn – a maneuver described in the police report.

Police also backed up Baldwin’s version of events in a statement to TMZ.

“There were no injuries reported or summons issued and the contributing factors to the accident were found to be a reaction to an uninvolved vehicle and the slippery and wet roadway conditions,” East Hampton Police Chief Michael Sarlo said in the statement.

Sarlo and other East Hampton police officials didn’t return The Post’s requests for comment.

Baldwin owns a home near the crash in Amagansett and grew up about 90 minutes away near the water in Massapequa.

The “30 Rock” star’s cucumber-confused wife Hilaria – who recently claimed she was “bullied” off “Dancing with the Stars” – also piped up about the crash with an Instagram video of her own.

“I just wanted you know to know he’s OK, Stephen is OK, everybody’s OK and no one was hurt,” she said. “And that’s the most important thing. So, I love you and thank you, thank you, thank you for caring.”

The Bayshore-based National Waste Services has been sued nearly a dozen times since 2017 by motorists accusing its drivers of causing crashes, court records show.

Most of those lawsuits have been settled or dismissed, records show.

Trucks parked at the company’s HQ appeared to have two dash cameras perched on the front and back.

The footage obtained by Newsmax only shows the front view.

A manager at the headquarters stormed out of the office when The Post visited for comment about Baldwin’s assertions.

“We have no comment,” the manager said.
