East Hampton Town Community Housing Fund

The East Hampton Town Community Housing Fund, approved by voters in a November, 2022, referendum, receives the revenue from a new, half-percent (0.5 %) tax on real estate transfers, paid by buyers, which went into effect in April,2023.

The widespread impacts of a lack of affordable community housing are increasingly evident, and a variety of housing opportunities for community members across the economic spectrum is needed to maintain a healthy, sustainable community.

The Fund will provide a significant, ongoing source of revenue for East Hampton Town to create housing for members of our community faced with a severe housing shortage and rising prices.

The Fund will be used solely for housing, according to state law and an EH Town Community Housing Fund Plan. All proposed funding requests will be reviewed by the Town’s Community Housing Advisory Board and are subject to a public hearing and town board approval.
