Hamptons $115 million home sale smashes real estate records — billionaire behind the secret deal revealed

The hush-hush sale of this home has made Hamptons history.

An Amagansett mansion set on 8.5 acres has traded hands for $115 million — the highest price ever paid for a single residential parcel in the Hamptons. The sale of the property was first reported by Behind the Hedges.

The deal closed in late July, according to the outlet, and not a whisper was heard until the deed transfer hit public records this month.

The shroud of secrecy around the sale suggests its dealmakers are under legal lock-and-key.

The home is located on coveted Further Lane, one of the most expensive streets in the country.

The brokerages involved are unknown, but an anonymous source told Behind the Hedges that the new owner of the waterfront property is Ukrainian-born billionaire Sir Len Blavatnik.

Blavatnik’s purchase brings the property’s price per acre to an eye-watering $13.53 million.

Terry Semel, the former CEO of Yahoo! and co-CEO of Warner Bros., acquired the parcel in 2005.

A local luxury broker told The Post that the remarkable price reflects the particular value of the wide, lengthy plot of land. The 8.5-acre lot is one of just a few left in the area that stretches all the way from Further Lane to the waterfront.

The home was owned by former Yahoo and Warner Bros. boss Terry Semel.

Semel acquired the oceanfront parcel through an LLC in late 2005, according to property records. He was then the chairman and CEO of Yahoo! Incorporated.

Semel paid Blackstone founder Stephen A. Schwarzman $43 million for the property — $1 million over asking.

The Post reported at the time that the land featured a “rustic five-bedroom cottage.” That cottage now serves as a guesthouse, The Post has learned, and a contemporary main house of unknown square footage is now the jewel of the property.

The fate of the parcel’s current structures is up in the air — buyers who can afford nine-figure price tags have a well-known penchant for teardowns.

Blavatnik was identified by Behind the Hedges as the man behind the LLC buyer, Brise Lointaine. The billionaire businessman holds British and American citizenship and an English knighthood for his philanthropy.

Blavatnik’s reported $29.1 billion net worth makes him the 77th richest person in the world, according to Forbes. Blavatnik owns Warner Music Group and holds investments in chemicals, energy and tech. Reports tie his early fortune to the post-Cold War privatization of Russian resources in the 1990s.

Blavatnik and his wife, Emily Appelson, can consider themselves East End locals. They own a smaller residence on Further Lane, according to Behind the Hedges, as well as an oceanfront compound along Bridgehampton’s monied Dune Road.

Further Lane comes with its own cachet. The couple’s new neighbors include art dealer Larry Gagosian, Lorne Michaels and Jerry Seinfeld.

Blavatnik’s purchase is the Hamptons’ first deal over $100 million in nearly two years, according to Behind the Hedges. Although combined parcels in the Long Island enclave have certainly sold for more, this $115 million deal sets a new record as the priciest single parcel ever traded.

The previous record was set by the $105 million sale of a 42-acre Watermill estate in 2021.
