The Town of East Hampton – Laborer with the Sanitation Department

An employee in this position is responsible for the executing daily operations of the Sanitation Department.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing manual work including but not limited to sweeping, raking, picking up trash and assisting with the disposal of trash
  • Loading and unloading supplies
  • May use power equipment such as chain saws, drills, lawn mowers and portable power tools
  • May occasionally assist the public with unloading trash
  • Communicating with the public; giving directions as to where garbage should be properly disposed of
  • Observing and ensuring the compliance with all safety and preventive policies and guidelines

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, and the hourly rate of pay is $26.5812 ($55,288.89 annually) with benefits, including paid vacation, enrollment in the New York State and Local Retirement System, health care, and dental and vision coverage. There are no minimum education or experience requirements for this position.
