News Flash • Renovation to Begin at Red Creek Skate Park: To

Southampton Town Parks and Recreation officials announced today the first details of a “major renovation” of the Red Creek Skate Park in Hampton Bays.

Built in 2001 as one of the biggest amenities in the hamlet’s most popular park, the current skating facility features an advanced half pipe, traditional bowl, and many smaller beginner ramps, mostly constructed from Skatelite surfaces over wood framing. However, beginning in the next few weeks is the planned demolition and phase-out of select park features that would have required significant investment to repair.

The long-anticipated project is funded by the Southampton Town Board’s appropriation of $1.25 million in the 2025 capital budget. The new park will be constructed from concrete and is expected to open in the fall of this year.

Demolition and removal of select skate structures will continue over the course of the next month, and sometime in May, parks department personnel will begin outreach efforts to engage with community members to solicit feedback and design ideas.

Those interested in being involved in the process should email the Town’s Parks and Recreation at ParksAndRec@southamptontownny.gov.
