Employees' in this title perform clerical and typing/word processing duties, and follow well-defined procedures and methods.

Responsibilities include:

  • Answers phone calls and gives general information regarding real property tax questions.
  • Has good knowledge of computers and is familiar with the Town of East Hampton's software programs.
  • Provides customer service to the public, acts as receptionist at the front counter, gives general information regarding real property tax questions, and answers routine questions.
  • Accepts tax payments from residents of East Hampton.
  • Inputs tax payments into the Tax Receiver’s software system and follows well-defined procedures and proves out personal work and receipts daily.
  • Scans files and records.
  • Opens, sorts and distributes mail.
  • Composes routine letters and types from copy or general instructions; enters data into form letters, memos and forms for the Tax Receiver’s office.
  • Reviews applications for change of address and processes into Tax Receiver’s software system.
  • Sorts and files documents, reports, correspondences and other materials.
  • Prepares, sorts and stuffs envelopes for various Tax Receiver mailings.
  • May perform other related office duties.

The hourly rate is $25.0493 and the minimum qualification is graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.
