Seasonal Employment – Recreation Department
Town of East Hampton – Seasonal Positions in the Recreation Department
Lifeguard – Starting at $23.80 per hour; higher rates depending upon certification and title
Responsibilities include:
- Performs skilled safety work in monitoring swimmers at ocean and bay locations
- Observes and pays close attention to swimmers that may show signs of being in distress
- Rescues swimmers when in distress; administers first aid and/or CPR, if necessary
- Maintains order and enforces regulations at all beach locations
- Possesses certifications as required by the Town of East Hampton
- May attend pre-season training to obtain required certifications
- Performs all work under the supervision of a Senior Lifeguard or higher; does related work as required
Park Attendant – $23.62 per hour
Responsibilities include:
- work at the beach booths and may assist at the youth park
- check for valid beach parking stickers on vehicles
- communicate the process and cost of purchasing parking stickers
- collect daily parking fees at beach booths, give change to customers
- reconcile the daily receipts and collected fees
- demonstrate positive engagement with the public
- must have a valid NYS Driver's License
Recreation Aide – $18.56 per hour
Responsibilities include:
- Prepares activities and may act as a sports official
- Leads activities of various age groups
- Instructs and participates in sports including, but not limited to basketball, volleyball, tennis, swimming, sailing, etc.
- Instructs and issues materials and supplies for arts and crafts
- Monitors the Montauk Skate Park and Amagansett Youth Park
- Shows interest in games, sports, and hobbies
- Interacts with the public; does related work as required
