Due to the current weather conditions that are forecast for the Town, and the expectation that negative impacts from the current winter storm will persist throughout the day on Monday, February 23, 2026, all Southampton Town facilities will be closed on Monday, effective 5:00 AM.
Southampton Town Highway Department, Parks Maintenance and Municipal Works crews will be out in full force actively trying to stay on top of the rapidly falling snow in the face of deteriorating weather conditions. High rates of snowfall, coupled with windy conditions may present challenges to crews throughout the storm. Residents are urged to stay off the roads and avoid travel.
The forecast is calling for approximately 18 inches of snow before the storm moves out of our area later on Monday. It is also expected that there will be a potential for coastal flooding and coastal erosion impacts, along with gusty winds near, or in excess of 50 mph
“In order to give our dedicated Highway Department, Parks Maintenance and Municipal Works crews an opportunity to deal with the high volume of snow that is expected, as well as to ensure that all of our facilities are safe for public access, we have decided to close all Town facilities on Monday, February 23, 2026,” said Supervisor Maria Moore. “The Town continues to monitor the situation and will be working hard to maintain public safety during this winter storm. We will assess any possible impacts to Tuesday operations as we work through the storm tomorrow; ensuring public safety is our number one priority,” Moore went on to say.
“The Town’s Emergency Operation Center will be open as of this evening and will be monitoring storm conditions,” said Town Emergency Manager Ryan Murphy. “All residents are urged to stay off the roads and avoid travelling during the storm. Conditions outside are expected to deteriorate rapidly and there is a blizzard warning issued by the National Weather Service,” Murphy said. Murphy also encouraged residents to sign up for Town alerts via Notify Me on the Town’s website, as well as to stay tuned to the Town’s social media for updates, information and winter weather tips.
