Update from the Town of East Hampton on Winter Storm Preparations • East Hampton Town, NY
The Town of East Hampton is preparing for the winter storm forecasted for Sunday into Monday, with coordination already underway across departments.
Town Supervisor Kathee Burke-Gonzalez met today with Deputy Supervisor David Lys and Highway Superintendent Steve Lynch, along with Town Administrator Becky Hansen, and teams from the Town Police Department, Marine Patrol, Highway, and Parks and Building Maintenance to review plans and ensure crews are aligned ahead of deteriorating conditions.
Highway crews are preparing for plowing and treatment operations, and public safety officials are coordinating staffing and response protocols. If conditions warrant, the Town may implement road closures and travel advisories to protect public safety and allow crews to work efficiently.
“Our focus is on preparation and coordination, so we are ready when conditions change. Today we brought our teams together across Highway, Police, Marine Patrol, and Parks and Building Maintenance to make sure we are prepared to respond safely and efficiently,” said Town Supervisor Kathee Burke-Gonzalez. “I am grateful to the Town staff who will be out in difficult conditions, and I am asking residents to prepare now and look out for one another as the storm moves in. For everyone’s safety, please do not travel during the storm and refrain from parking on public streets. Keeping roads clear helps our crews do their work and makes it easier for emergency vehicles to reach anyone who needs help.”
Residents are urged to prepare now, avoid non-essential travel as the storm approaches, and not park on public streets so plows and emergency vehicles can access roadways without delay.
