The East Hampton Town Board has appointed Dennis M. Brown to the part-time position of Assistant Town Attorney in the Town Attorney’s Office, effective May 13, 2026.
Brown brings decades of legal and municipal government experience to the role, including service as Suffolk County Attorney, Acting County Attorney, Bureau Chief of Municipal Law, Deputy Bureau Chief in the Litigation Bureau, and Director of the Suffolk County Real Property Tax Service Agency. His background includes advising government officials, managing complex legal matters, overseeing litigation, and working on municipal governance, procurement, regulatory compliance, and intergovernmental issues.
In his role with the Town, Brown will assist with the drafting and revision of local laws, support long-range planning initiatives, and help lead comprehensive updates to the Town Code to strengthen municipal operations and better serve residents.
“We are very pleased to welcome Dennis Brown to the Town Attorney’s Office,” said Supervisor Kathee Burke-Gonzalez. “Dennis brings a deep understanding of municipal law, but just as important, he understands public service and the responsibility that comes with serving residents. His experience will be a real asset as we continue working through the legal and practical issues that come before the Town every day.”
“I am thrilled to welcome Dennis to the team,” said Deputy Town Attorney Brittany Toledano. “He was one of my earliest mentors, and I can personally attest to the depth of knowledge, professionalism, and integrity he will bring to this role. His experience will be especially valuable as we work on local laws, long-range planning, and thoughtful updates to the Town Code.”
Brown also has extensive private practice experience in tort defense, insurance coverage litigation, jury trials, state and federal appeals, and general legal practice.
