Guild Hall William P. Rayner Artist-in-Residence Robbie Fairchild shares an in-process presentation of his new dance-theater work, Lord Chamberlain’s Men, offering audiences a sneak peek ahead of its premiere at New York City Center’s Fall for Dance Festival.
Marking Fairchild’s debut as a director and choreographer, Lord Chamberlain’s Men is a dance-theater work inspired by Shakespeare’s sonnets and the origin story of Romeo & Juliet, exploring themes of identity, forbidden love, and sexual longing that resonate throughout Shakespeare’s writing. With acclaimed director and choreographer Christopher Wheeldon, OBE, serving as Creative Consultant, Fairchild brings together movement, text, and electro-acoustic music to create a theatrical landscape where storytelling and choreography intersect.
The in-process presentation will be followed by a conversation with the artists about the development of the work and Fairchild’s evolution from celebrated performer to director and choreographer.
