Ludlam Avenue Park in Flanders Re-Opens Updated Basketball Courts • Southampton, NY

The Parks Department recently completed a renovation of the Ludlam Avenue Park Basketball Courts. The project was the success of a Community Development Block Grant that provided funding for this much needed refurbishment.

All in the town received $90,000 to perform crack repair, court surface leveling, new colors and repairs to the surrounding fences. Parks Director Kristen Doulos said “The new courts are beautiful and make this neighborhood park look great!”

Over the past few years the park has seen many other improvements that included updating and restoring the existing comfort station with new interior and exterior finishes, new ADA accessible pathway and ramp, replacement of fences and some landscape improvements. The parking lot was also restriped to improve access and stall capacity.

“The park is something that the community can be proud to have” said Assistant Town Parks Director Derryl Baumer, who oversaw most of the upgrades from planning to finalization.

With remaining grant funds the Parks Department will make some additional landscape improvements later this year.
