Red Creek Park Skate Park Set to Reopen in Late Fall 2026 • Southampton, NY

The Town has awarded the construction contract to Laser Industries, Inc., which will serve as the general contractor, with California Skateparks serving as the skate park subcontractor. The renovated facility is anticipated to reopen in late fall 2026.

“The Red Creek Skate Park has long been an important recreational resource for our community, and we are excited to bring a new and modern facility to Southampton Town,” said Town Supervisor Maria Moore. “With conscientious planning and careful budgeting, we were able to preserve the features that are important to the skating community and provide opportunities for recreation and outdoor activity for many years to come.”

The original conceptual design, developed by L.K. McLean Associates in collaboration with Platform Group, a firm specializing in one-of-a-kind custom skate park design, incorporated input from a local skate coalition as well as feedback gathered through a Town survey.

Following the bidding process, the Town worked with the selected contractor to refine the project scope and prioritize the features most important to skaters. The Town Board also provided additional funding to help maintain the overall vision for the redesigned park.

“We are excited to bring a skate park to the Town that reflects the input received throughout the planning and design process,” said Councilman Tom Neely. “The redesigned space will offer something for skaters of all ages and experience levels, as well as bicycles and scooters, while providing a welcoming place for families and spectators to enjoy.”

The new skate park will feature a primarily concrete design with an open, spacious layout and expansive sightlines throughout the facility. Planned features include a bowl, low bank ramps, stairs, rails and ledges, along with elevated seating areas for spectators.

The plaza-style design will provide riding opportunities for beginners, experienced skaters and everyone in between, while maintaining the character and flow that longtime users enjoyed at the original park. The new concrete bowl will offer a similar feel and flow to the original 2000s-era wood and Skatelite version.

“This project has been shaped by the people who know and use the skate park best,” said Town Parks Director Kristen Doulos. “Councilman Rick Martel, who is sadly no longer with us, made sure that we listened to the skating community during the design process and worked to preserve the character and flow that made the original park special. He was excited to see the vision for Red Creek become a reality, and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back when construction is complete.”
