State of Emergency Declared Following Severe Thunderstorm • Southampton, NY



On Sunday, July 5, 2026, at approximately 10:00 a.m., a Declaration of a State of Emergency and associated Emergency Order were issued for the Town of Southampton following the damaging thunderstorm and high wind event that impacted our area Saturday evening.

Cleanup and recovery efforts are ongoing. To assist residents with storm cleanup, the Town’s Emergency Order Brush Amnesty has been extended through Monday, July 13, 2026. Residents may bring storm debris consisting of branches and twigs less than 3 inches in diameter to the Town’s yard-waste facilities in Westhampton, Hampton Bays, and North Sea during normal operating hours (8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.). Please note: The Westhampton Yard-Waste Facility is closed on Wednesdays.
