At the April 28, 2026, Town Board Meeting, the Southampton Town Board voted unanimously on legislation put forth by Councilwoman Cyndi McNamara to waive beach parking permit fees for lifetime members of the fire and ambulance companies.
In an effort to recognize the contributions made by these individuals, including their decades of service, dedication, and heroism, the Town Board has established a waiver for lifetime members, defined as those who have completed a minimum of twenty years of consecutive active service.
Councilwoman McNamara stated, “Our volunteer first responders are the backbone of this community, often putting their lives at risk to protect ours. This waiver is a small way for the Town to say thank you to those who have dedicated twenty years or more for our safety.”
The new legislation takes effect immediately, allowing eligible veterans of the fire and ambulance services to apply for their no-cost permits ahead of the upcoming summer season. Applicants will be required to provide verification of their twenty years of consecutive active service from their respective departments.
