East Hampton Town Building Department–Office Update

As of Monday May 11th, 2026 the Building Department will be relocating to Suite 110

Office Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am – 3:30pm

Counter Hours for drop off: Monday – Friday 8:30am-3:30am

Building Inspectors phone and counter hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am – 10:30am

  • Starting Monday, May 19th, 2025:

    ALL Building Department applications must be submitted digitally through our Digital Portal OpenGov AND

  • NO PAYMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE COUNTER. PAYMENTS CAN BE MADE ONLINE BY CREDIT CARD (2.99% + .99), OR E-CHECK ($2.25 FLAT).

  • STAY IN EFFECT UNTIL THE END OF 2026 Updated Certificate of Occupancy Requirements***Please take note of the Updated Certificate of Occupancy requirement for change of ownership, effective January 1st, 2024:  Updated CO Requirements

  • Per Town Code Section 107-7B(h) *** A staked survey, prepared by a licensed Surveyor, indicating the clearing limitations (“envelope”) for the property must be submitted with any Building Permit application that includes clearing.
  • Requirements For Building Registry*** With the rental season approaching, please make sure you are aware of the requirements for the Town of East Hampton Rental Registry. A signed and notarized update form must be provided to the Building Department every time your tenancy changes.  Once notarized, the update forms can be dropped off, mailed in, or emailed to the address at the top of the page.   •  Building Department Fees have Increased as of May 17, 2024***  As of Friday, May 17th, 2024, the Town of East Hampton Building Department fees have increased. See Town Resolution # 2024-680   RESOLUTION-2024-680
  • As of Monday, November 4, 2024***    The fee for an Updated Certificate of Occupancy will be $600.00 per Town Board Amended RESOLUTION-2024-680.
