In a show of community spirit for Earth Day, approximately 525 volunteers joined Councilwoman Cyndi McNamara for the annual Great East End Clean-Up, removing 6.21 tons of garbage and debris from across Southampton Town on April 25 and 26.
Dedicated volunteers combed through beaches, parks, trails, and roadsides, collecting tires, furniture, construction wood, and general litter to beautify the area. Councilwoman McNamara kicked off the weekend-long event on Good Ground Road, working alongside members of the Hampton Bays Hand Aldrich Post 924 of the American Legion.
“The Great East End Clean-up has become an annual tradition in our town,” said Councilwoman McNamara. “It is inspiring to see so many groups coming together to protect our environment and take pride in our community. This massive effort really does make a difference.”
The event highlights the commitment of Southampton residents to environmental stewardship and local beautification.
